Tracking in Schools: An Introduction
Many educators, family members, community members, and students hold differing opinions about how classrooms should be structured. A current debate lies in whether classrooms should be tracked according to student ability. Tracking means that students are separated in particular classes based on their academic ability levels.
Tracking is currently being debated across the United States and holds many benefits and detriments. In this WebQuest, you will work in groups to research information for and against tracking in schools, collect information about tracking overall, and, at the end of the activity, your group will make a collective decision on whether you think tracking should or should not be used in schools.
